Democracy Is On The Line In Wisconsin

Republican and Democratic Business Leaders Unite

We aired an ad featuring Wisconsin business leaders urging a vote for Gov. Evers because he is the only candidate who pledged to protect democratic rights, institutions, and norms in Wisconsin.

The ad features David Irwin and Anoop Prakash, two Republican executives in our state who have never voted for a Democrat for governor prior to these midterms.

Wisconsin Business Leaders Support Governor Evers

In September 2022, Wisconsin Business Leaders for Democracy — a group of Democratic and Republican business leaders — asked the two candidates for governor whether they support ten fundamental tenets of democracy.

Governor Evers answered yes to each of these democratic principles.

Tim Michels refused to answer.

Many of the foundational beliefs are based on those put forward by the Candidate Principles for Trusted Elections, a respected, bipartisan coalition of 50+ organizations and individuals.

Specifically, both candidates were asked if they accepted the 2020 election results; would honor the outcomes of the 2022 and 2024 elections; and would let the unbiased Wisconsin Election Commission do its work—without partisan attacks.

Incumbent Tony Evers agreed to uphold the democratic principles; however, Tim Michels was silent.

At a time when the threats to the sanctity of our vote are as dangerous as ever, Tim Michels' lack of response wrong.
